Child Sexual Abuse
What is it?
Sexual abuse is mainly used to describe behavior toward children and teens, not adults. Sexual abuse can include many different things, from touching a victim in a sexual manner to forcing a victim to touch the perpetrator in a sexual way, to making a victim look at sexual body parts or watch sexual activity.
3 Reasons Why it Matters
- It intrinsically shapes how one experiences trust, safety, and relationships.
- It is one of the strongest predictors of life-time psychological distress.
- The vast majority of those who experience CSA interpret their self-worth and identity through the lens of the trauma.
