Psychological Evaluations
What is it?
Psychological evaluation is an umbrella term for a variety of assessments, all with the intention of demystifying our mental health. For example, sometimes we have trouble with staying focused on homework or that spreadsheet at work. Before we can assume it must be ADHD, many times it is distracting anxiety or an unidentified learning/health issue that is the true culprit of the trouble focusing. Psychological evaluation is specifically purposed to get to those root issues.
Why Does it Matter?
The root issue is sometimes hard to see. However, it is the most important to identify because it determines the right treatment. Let’s say we have knee pain, if a medical doctor does not run tests to diagnose what is causing the pain, they are guessing at the treatment. Psychological evaluation is a mental health MRI.
Why Psychological Testing at NPS?
We regularly have clients bring reports upon reports to us, who have spent thousands of dollars, and say they do not know what their psychological reports mean or what to do with them. They might as well be in a different language. Our evaluation concludes with what we call a Diagnostic Feedback session, a full hour of explaining all the findings and the real-world applications of the evaluation. Furthermore, if there are more questions, we will meet as many times as necessary to make sure everything is understood and next steps are planned.
Types of Psychological Testing:
- ADHD Evaluation
- Personality Disorder Evaluation
- Mood Disorder Evaluation
