Emily completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Marian College in Indianapolis and a master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at The Adler School of Professional Psychology. Throughout her career, she has worked extensively with families, parents, couples, and individuals of all ages. She has held a license in Marriage and Family Therapy since 2011.

Emily loves Thai food, especially mango, sticky rice, as well as crafting, cooking, being outside, and spending time with people–especially her family. She firmly believes that all individuals have the tools and ability to reach their goals. And that through comprehensive and collaborative treatment planning, recovery is possible for everyone.

Emily’s Thoughts on Counseling:

Emily believes there are three possible outcomes for counseling: getting better, getting worse, and staying the same. She says that if your life stays the same, therapy is not working. If it gets better or worse, it’s working and you should keep pushing forward.

Through the therapeutic relationship, Emily believes all parties should grow, deepen their understanding of self and others, and extend their new knowledge and skills into their communities. She uses humor, honesty, validation, and compassion to gently nudge her clients towards improvement.

What Emily Says About the Client/Counselor Relationship:

“A perfect therapist fit is out there.” Emily also says that finding the right therapist for you will help to relax and calm any nerves you may be feeling.
