Dr. Neal’s Thoughts on Counseling:

Dr. Neal has loved every season of his career in counseling. Currently, he finds joy in honing and administering the evaluation process for NPS. He serves as a kind of Dr. Sherlock Holmes for the practice by bringing people peace, understanding, and hope for the future via accurate diagnoses.

According to Dr. Neal, a diagnosis should ring the bell for a client in three areas: the mind, the heart, and the gut. In his work, nothing feels better than cracking the code for a client who has seen multiple therapists, visited multiple doctors, and/or tried multiple medications without success. For every client, his ultimate goal is to hear the words, “You know what? This makes total sense.”

If Dr. Neal Hadn’t Become a Therapist:

He would be a neurosurgeon! Dr. Neal can’t imagine himself in a field that doesn’t include healing.

Dr. Neal’s Advice for Anyone Nervous to Start Therapy:

“I would look for a counselor who is willing to spend a few minutes on the phone or meet me in person for free.”

What Dr. Neal Says About the Client/Counselor Relationship:

“It’s gotta be a good fit. You want to be seen, you want to feel heard, you just want to connect with the personality.”
