Marriage, Couples & Family

We all desire respect and affection in the relationships that mean the most to us. Sometimes, we feel stuck. We don’t know how to move forward, and we are weary from repeating the same pattern over and over. It’s normal to have ups and downs and to occasionally feel like we can’t move forward. Marriage, couples, and family counseling is a tool that can help you move through those difficult times and break through barriers to stronger and more fulfilling relationships.

NPS is a family counseling center that’s committed to helping couples and families communicate more effectively. We also help couples heal from the deeper wounds of betrayal, pornography, infidelity, or years of neglect. If you are interested, please come in for a no-charge, twenty-minute consultation. We will talk a bit and see if we are a good fit. Our heart’s desire is to help you take the next step and renew your hope.

Kristina Polley’s view on marital or couples counseling:

We live in a culture that constantly asks, “What about me?” So it’s no surprise that married couples find their way to therapy with a laundry list of what the other person isn’t providing. During couples counseling or marriage counseling, there are three distinct entities in the room: the husband, the wife and the marriage. In order for the relationship to survive, each person must humbly recognize his and her contributions to the relationship—both positive and negative. As each person seeks to empower the other and look to the good of the other, the relationship thrives and grows. Kristina is a skilled mediator between all three entities (husband, wife and marriage), and she assists couples in achieving the best possible version of their lives together.

Testimony:
"Kristina Polley has the empathy, compassion, straight-forwardness, and experience that my husband and I needed to not only repair a marriage torn by infidelity and inadequate communication, but to strengthen and nourish it as well. In our very first appointment, she stood out from other counselors we had tried, and we knew we were in the right hands. She guided us through our healing process and gave us workable, realistic tools to obtain our goal of a more enriched and fulfilling relationship. Her compassion and genuine concern for our personal success is apparent in everything she says and does with us. I have recommended her to friends and family, and I would whole-heartedly recommend her to anyone who needs support and counseling to work through emotional pain, depression, frustration or despair. She will change your life and help you find healing and wholeness in your relationship."

Dr. Douglas Neal’s view on marital or couples counseling:

Dr. Neal tells couples that there is always hope for their relationship if both are willing to do hard, interpersonal work. Both must strive to understand how they have come to be in their current situation, and both must be willing to face their own flaws and shortcomings in the relationship. Being straightforward and highly interactive, he helps identify the underlying issues that have provoked hurt in one or both partners in the relationship. He helps create a practical plan with steps toward healing, and he equips couples to persevere through life’s challenges with kids, money and stress. If the couple identifies with issues of faith, he openly integrates healing principles of faith. He tells his couples to inform him when they have given up because—given the right plan of restoration—he is always last to stop believing that there is hope for every marriage to be mutually satisfying and go the distance for decades.

For many years, area churches, doctors and lawyers have recognized Dr. Neal’s adeptness in difficult marriage counseling and couples counseling issues, and have referred their clients and church members to him.
